hi, i have some data in the columns adjacent to a data table form a query. if i put the filter on the data table it only puts filter on the data table itself and not on the data in the columns adjacent to the table. if i try to filter on the data adjacent to the table then the data table doesn't get the filters. is there a way around this so i can filter both the data table data and the adjacent columns at the same time?
Try removing filter from query table (using filter button in data ribbon tool).
Then select query table along with adjacent columns and apply filter (from data ribbon tool).

thx for the reply, but If i do that then the filter option is not available. i am using excel 365. i only get the filter button if my cursor is on the table or in the adjacent data, but not when i select both.
Extend table area to include adjacent column(s).
Or use Get & Transform to create self referencing table. To create self referencing table refer to article in link below.

FYI - Please update your profile to reflect your current Excel version. Much have changed from Excel 2013.
