Adding Text values to put into a graph

I am struggling to understand how to add up totals of a text value in a column and put it into a graph. I have spent 3 hours on this, so I am at the end of my rope, lol.

If you follow the instructions you can attach a sheet as can everybody else.

Use a formula to COUNTIF cell is a certain value.
Of course you will need to change the vertical axis from date, which would be meaningless, to count of occurances.

You could also use a pivot table/chart to do the aggregation automatically
