Hi Excel experts!
This is my first post. I’m a novice at Excel so I hope my question makes sense.
I need help with calculating a maximum NET score in golf for players when posting their score to GHIN (Golf Handicap Index Network)
Maximum Net Score is…Net Double Bogey = Par + 2 + Handicap strokes received on a hole.
What's a net double bogey? A net double bogey is a score of two-over-par after adjusting to a hole's difficulty (holes are handicapped by difficulty on a scorecard from 1 to 18). Put simply: if you're a 10 handicap, net double bogey would be a triple bogey - or a 7 on a par 4 - on the course's 10 toughest holes, and a double bogey on the remaining eight holes. Similarly, for a 14 handicap, a net double bogey would be a triple bogey on the 14 toughest holes, and a double bogey on the other four. The pattern continues.
The maximum score for posting on each hole played is limited to a net double bogey – which is equal to Par of the hole + 2 strokes (double bogey) + any handicap strokes the player is entitled to receive on that hole based on their Course Handicap.
Let’s say I have a Course Handicap of 10 and the 2nd-ranked Stroke Index hole is a par 4.
Using the scenario above, your maximum score for handicap purposes is a 7, so in this case, you would post a score of 7 for that hole.
"Net Double Bogey" is used to make handicaps more representative of a player's potential ability. Its purpose is to avoid recording a very high score on one or more individual holes which might inflate the handicap calculation.
What I am looking for is a formula in row 9 (with the red fill) to calculate the player's actual hole score or, the "Net Double Bogey" maximum adjustment (if needed). The adjusted score should not be higher than the maximum score in row 10 (with the green fill).
See attached file.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
