    Function to Pull Column Heading

    Good afternoon,

I am trying to pull the last heading (in this case calendar months) if there is data in that column. In other words, for each person, what month has data in it? I have attached an example with completed results for clarity.

    Thanks in advance!

(I am using Microsoft 10. Not sure how to edit my profile on my phone.)

    Hi macro12,

You should set your data up as a table, with no blank rows between the data. I've done that for you. Then you should have columns of data like Project, Name, Date, Value.
After removing your blank rows I converted your data to this better format. Then a simple Pivot Table showing Max Date answers your question.
Excel works best in TABLES of data. Too many people want it to look good instead of work good. Tables, Tables, Tables See the attached for an answer.

    Hello,

How did you convert the data into the green table? I need to perform this action on thousands of lines.

    Thanks for all your help!

    Hi macro,

    Glad you asked
In newer versions of Excel there is a newer tool called Power Query or Get & Transfer. It has an UnPivot Tool that took me about 10 seconds to convert your data to my green table. Time to upgrade?
https://trumpexcel.com/unpivot-data/ is one of the many sites showing this tool.

We may be able to be of more help if you upload a sample file illustrating the "my max dates are all showing up as zero" issue.
