Copied formulas don't act like formulas

    Hi everyone!

I hope I can explain my problem clearly as English is only my second language... and that you can help me out!

I've been using Excell for several years but I'm not an expert at all, I have been using only its most basic functions, one of them is to copy a formula and paste it in a group of adjacent cells, as you know the program changes the references in the formula accordingly in each row. I've been doing this for years with no problem whatsoever but today I found that although the formulas are being copied to the adjacent cells they are not acting like formulas, meaning if I change a value on any of the cells included in or related to the formula, the result of the formula doesn't change accordingly, it is almost as if the data in the cell with the formula is being treated as plain text.

I have tried using the "copy formula only" option under the special paste menu with the same results.

    Anyone, please???

When you paste the formula, and click on the destination, do you see the formula in the formula bar? If you press F9 will the formula result update?

You probably have turned off calculation. Go to File, Options, Formulas, and under Calculation Options make sure "Automatic" is selected.

Also make sure that the cell you are pasting the formula to is not formatted as "Text".

    Glad to help!

Sometimes when the toaster doesn't work it's because it's not plugged in.
