Comparing two files for matching or similar names to retrieve ID numbers.

Hello, I am trying to compare a list of names in one file #1 to a list of names in another, #2. Once I find its match i would like to pull the unique name identifier from #2 into #1.

Problem is that the names in file #2 may not match exactly, there may be name variations or may even be included with the name of their spouse and may be multiple matches.

Question: If there is no exact name match, is it possible to get a list of name IDs that are likely a match.
