Returning a third cell in cell one relative to cell two

    Hi,

I am running a project where each activity relies on a previous activity to be completed. Thus the start date for each "new" activity is the finish date of the "old" activity + one day. I have given each activity an ID number. For each new activity, I have a "RELY" column which stipulates which previous activity the new one relies on. I would now like to automate the determination of the new activity starting date by having a function which can read the end date of the old activity (by me selecting the old activities ID number) and returning this date into the "start date" of the new activity.

Any help in this regard would be appreciated! I have attached a picture and sample of the current sheet setup. If you have any further suggestions, please feel free to make them.

    Thanks, Craig.

I did it by adding a new column for "calculated start" which either takes the value from Column F or finds the "Rely" activity and adds on to the end date like this:

I then adapted the other formulas and conditional formatting to use this new date. Can you work with that?
