Hi,
I am trying to work out the volume of earthworks taken off a construction site and I was advised by a colleague to use the "simpson`s rule" to do so, I know how much has come off through the tickets claimed per tonne but wanted to back up this information with some verified calculations.
I attended site and got measures at the starting point (pavement edge) and at 3m intervals to the back of the site, the site width being 18.5m and 28.5m in length, for ease, I took measures at 3m points down the length and width of the site along the perimeter and have made assumptions across the mid-section based on the topography of the land.
All this information was plugged into a spreadsheet, and the areas worked out from that - I kind of understand the concept of the rule but not sure if I working the areas out correctly - does anyone know of any templates that I could use to test this?
The way I did it matched in what what I know came off but the other QS is trying to knock some out by adjusting the measure on the starting point - this has left me a little confused - any help appreciated
