    Sum is calcing incorrectly

    Hi all - I'm having a meltdown.
I'm trying to balance a financial ledger and am running into a problem with the simplest of all calculations - the SUM function.

I have two amounts: -$378.15 and $309.22. When I sum them, the number that appears in the cell is correct: -$68.93. However, in the formula bar, it shows as -68.9299999999999. This is throwing off all my subsequent calculations.

Why does this happen when adding these two amounts?
    Example attached.

    Welcome to the forum.

It's what Excel does - Google floating point errors.

    Try this:

    =ROUND(SUM(B3:B4),2)

    Thank you so much!
I'm a self-taught Excel nerd, and this is the first time I've encountered this issue. Frustrating!
