Do I need the lookup function?

I have one excel file with two spreadsheets.

First Spreadsheet - I have many columns but the main points for this scenario is Product ID in column A (full with data) and Stock Status in column Y (empty).

Second Spreadsheet - I only have two columns, Product ID in A, and Stock Status in B which is full.

On my first spreadsheet I would like to fill the column Y which is Stock Status with the corresponding column B data from my second spreadsheet. It needs to match the product ID.

Would I need the lookup function for this, or something else?

Would really appreciate some help or pointers in the right direction, currently pulling my hair out. Thanks

    Welcome to the forum.

You could use VLOOKUP, the new XLOOKUP or INDEX MATCH.
