a link, but the target cell moves

In sheet1 I made a link to Sheet2!B7. All is well and clicking on the link in Sheet1 will take me to the B7 in Sheet2. Now I add ten rows above the object in Sheet2. The link in Sheet1 still takes me to B7 in Sheet2, but my intended target is now at B17.

Is there any way to make the link automatically follow the intended target if rows or columns are added or subtracted?

If you Name Sheet2!B7 something, e.g. MyTarget, then when you create the link on Sheet1 you should see 'MyTarget' as an option beneath 'Defined Names' after selecting 'Place in This Document'. Select that defined name and click OK.

Now when you add/remove rows/columns, it will automatically go to that named cell.

Thanks Paul, it took me a while to figure out how to "define", but then everything works fine

Sorry, I made an assumption that you knew how to name cells/ranges.

Easiest way is to select the cell/range and then in the small textbox above the left-most column header (just below the ribbon, where it shows the cell address) type whatever you want your name to be. There are some rules about defining names, but generally just make them alphanumeric with no spaces. You can also get more creative using the Name Manager on the Formulas ribbon (or CTRL+F3).

    Try with HYPERLINK:

Yes it already was a hyperlink, but Paul resolved the problem for me by suggesting Defining Names so the hyperlink doesn't loose track of my intended target. Thanks
