I'm trying to add 4 cells, then divide the sum by 4 to get the average. This --- =SUM(E20:H20 /4) --- doesn't work. How do I add the division portion into the formula? Thank you in advance!

Why not this?
=AVERAGE(E20:H20)
or this:
=SUM(E20:H20)/4

Thank you very much!
I know that this thread is marked as SOLVED, but I'd like to add a few words only.
The original formula =SUM(E20:H20/4) is also correct but if it is entered as an array formula, not as a "standard" formula.
