    Adding a number count down a column based on a formula

    Hi,
    I am looking to enter a number count (mobilizations) down a column based on a formula that takes the total square footage on a project and divides it by the number of square feet our crews can do per mobilization. ie. If our work totals 100,000 SF and our crews can do 10,000 per mobilization then the column would be numbered 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10. Then I would be able to add labor requirements to the right of the mobilizations, per mobilization.

    So you want something like "Total SQ of floor" / "SQ per crew" = "# of crews to mobilize", on a per-floor / per-area basis, and then add up the number of mobs to get a headcount?

    Ben, Thanks for your reply. You are close, but more simply I am looking to have the "# of Mobs" column automatically fill in the number of mobilizations based on the square footage the crew will do throughout the project. There will only be one crew. So, if there is a total of 100,000SF that the crew will work on during the project and the crew can do 10,000SF per mob, I would like the "# of mobs" column to auto fill 1-10 down the column.
    The SF-age per mob is actually a function of the maximum number of bags used per mob which is no more than 600. In the example I provided, there is a total of 16 mobs (G40) and the SF per mob is 12,470 SF (G39). So # od mobs would automatically be numbered 1 - 16 and I would like to have the SF/mob stop at 16 with an If, Then function if possible.

    If you're going to refer to cells like "G39" and "G40" then I would really prefer to see the XLS(X) spreadsheet itself rather than a PDF without any headers or cell markers.

    I don't understand the relationship between rows and how you're dividing things up.

    "total SF" / "SF-per-mob" = "# of mobs"

    "SF-per-mob" = some function of #-of-bags

    I guess that it's something like the SF a bag can serve is dependent on the particular mix of concrete your using (assuming I'm correct this is about pouring concrete and not like, floor-sealing epoxy or whatever), but what is this "some function"?

    Where is "16 mobilizations" coming from? Is it some upper limit of what a crew can do or what?

    It kind of seems like you want to figure out the total number of mobilizations needed to do a project as the key deliverable.

    And then you present that as marching rows down 1, 2, 3 until you hit that calculated number of mobilizations. But I'm not really sure what you want.



    I think we're back to asking for the spreadsheet. It will be a lot easier to interrogate what you're trying to do with that.

    Ben, We are in the business of pouring underlayments on floors (Soupy cement). We pour in a variety of thicknesses and Cells G33 & G34 give you the yield per bag based on depth. That in turn can give us a bag count based on total square footage of the project. The maximum number of bags that we can use in a day (which is typically a mobilization) is 600. The 1.6 factor in G35 give us the tonnage of sand used for the project. (This is a blend on site operation) Dividing the total SF-age by the max # of bags per day (600) will give me the number of mobilizations needed. Once I have the mobs listed down the "J" column, then I can start to assign labor to each mob. Of course some projects are phased by floor and so our mobilizations might turn out to be less than 600 bags per mob, but that is something I will have to determine on a job by job basis.
    My objective is to list # of mobs down column J with corresponding SF-ages per mob down column I. I hope this helps. Thank you again for your help.

    If I understand then the following may work:
    1. Paste the following into cell J10 and copy down: =IF(ROWS(A$1:A1)<=G$40,ROWS(A$1:A1),"")
    2. Paste the following into cell I10 and copy down: =IF(J10<>"",SUM(G$38)/G$40,0)
