Creating dropdown list drom dynamic row entries

    Hi all,

I am trying to create data validation in the form of a list which will come from a dynamic row that contains a lot of blanks.

Basically I want to populate column B with a dropdown list for each entry in column A. I have created a mapping table in columns F-N that denotes what each dropdown should contain by populating "Y" in each problem type that

So for entry A2..Automatic controls, the dropdown in column B should contain "Please select;Cannot set or unset alarms;communication failure;control panel fault; controller offline".

I have tried using data validation and just telling it to ignore blanks, but it seems as though that won't work because the cells contain formulae, I dont know? So if you see cell B2 the dropdown contains the correct entries but also the uneeded blanks?

I have also created the table in columns P-X as I figured that might be a good way to simplify the next step... but it doesnt necessarily need to be used if its not any help?

Obviously I also want the dropdowns to be dynamically edited by changing where I put the "Y" entries in columns F-N if I so wish.

The last note is that this is a small subset of something thats going to be done for like hundreds of rows and hundreds of different "problem types" (columns F-N) so I need something easily replicatable.

Let me know if any further information is needed by me to explain what it is im trying to do.

Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

From column P to X to establish the solid list:

**Array formulas are not entered in the same way as 'standard' formulas. Instead of pressing just ENTER, you first hold down CTRL and SHIFT, and only then press ENTER. If you've done it correctly, you'll notice Excel puts curly brackets {} around the formula (though do not attempt to manually insert these yourself).
