Multiply all values if condition is met

    Hi All,

    First time, Long time....

I'm trying to figure out how to quickly multiply the values in each cell if specific criteria are met. For example, in column A I have all the criteria values, and my range is B1:D7. I want to multiple all the cells that are coded as direct by 2.8% and indirect by 0.5%. Any thoughts on how I can solve this using a formula?

In summary I want to change the present value in B1:D7 to the value multiplied by the rate for the labels in A1:7

If you want to change the value in the same cell, you can't do that with a formula. What you could do is use a formula in another range of cells, get you answers, and then copy those values back to this range.
The other option is to select B9 first and then do a COPY (CTRL+C), and then select the cells you want to change (you can use the CTRL key to select non-contiguous cells), and then do a Paste>Special>then under "Operation" select the Multiply radio button and then click OK.

"If you want to change the value in the same cell, you can't do that with a formula." I figured that was the answer but was hoping for something that perhaps I haven't yet figured out. Thank you for the advice, much appreciated.

You can't direct change value in each cell by formula.
But you may setup source data in another area and use
formula for modify them (then copy/paste as value to
source area if you want : don't forget to change multiply
    value to 100% after copy/paste)

    Regards.
