how to calculate progressive sliding scale commission

Hi everyone! This is my first post as I can't figure this one out myself in excel! I'm quite stumped!

Product A has a sales value range of $49.95 to $59.95, and earns a commission of $4.00 to $5.50. In other words, the higher the sales person sells it for, the more commission they earn. The incremental commission is earned equally throughout the sales value range.

I am looking for a formula that, given a sales value (ie $53.00), will return the appropriate commission $ value.
