Create formula from a cell selected from drop down box.

    Hello,

I am hoping one of you clever folk can help me out. I was wondering if it was possible to create a formula based on what selection I make from my drop down list?

What I would like to happen is, because I have selected Sea View in cell B5 from my dropdown list, then cell G5 would automatically know to times the hours (f5) by £14 which is what is charged for sea view per hour.

Then if I select something else in B5 it would automatically re calculate for the cost that property and so on and so forth. So I can see quickly and easily without too much data input my costings for each job.

I suppose I was hoping I could give each location a hidden figure that would only get used once selected. Was just trying to do a simple spreadsheet ha ha to work out cost compared to location depending on staff etc.

I do apologise if I make no sense at all in what I am after and trying to achieve.

Thanks for reading and thanks for any help

If you set up a table somewhere that lists all the contract types in one column and the appropriate rate in the next column, then you would be able to use a VLOOKUP formula.

    Hope this helps.
