    Sum values from a list

    Dear all,

Maybe a simple question, but I can't figure out what goes wrong. I want to sum a list of values based on a match. I attached an example. For one reason, the function SUM(INDEX,MATCH) only adds the first value in the list. I tried SUMIF, SUMIFS, SUM(MATCH) etc. but nothing seems to work. Any idea what I do wrong here? Thanks in advance for the help.

It seems you simply need >> =SUMIF(A:A,E2,B:B) >> in F2 copied down

Re: Sum values from a list

    another> =SUMPRODUCT(--(E2=$A$2:$A$28),$B$2:$B$28)

Caution with post #3. A sumproduct cannot use full range references.

Maybe a pivot table is a better option.
