I consider myself a notice at Excel and learn daily through trial and error.
I’m looking for assistance with a spreadsheet (see attached) where I have applied conditional formatting in Column D that defaults to grey color but changes to white whenever a selection is made or data are entered in the preceding cell. This alerts the user that when the cell turns white, they should enter data and when the cell is grey that they should not answer the question. For example, when question 1 (E3) is answered question 2 (E4) changes from grey to white. Ideally, the user would answer questions in sequential order.
1) I would like to apply a rule that prevents the user to enter data whenever a cell is grey but allows an entry if the cell is white.
2) For Question 9 (E11) when the user enters “99.99” in the cell I want to apply conditional formatting that does not change the cell from grey to white. Right now, I have a simple formula applied that if E10 is not null then it turns white. But evidently, I need a more specific formula that permits the entry of appropriate values.
3) I have a similar request for Question 10 (E12) but this cell value is slightly different = “999.99”
Any help is appreciated.
