Turn Pixel Image Into List of Blocks of Colour within each row e.g. 2 blue, 4 red, 6 blue?

I am a crocheter and I create drawings in Excel to turn into a list to follow e.g. 19 blue, 5 yellow, 76 blue, 2 white, 7 red, 2 blue.

I colour the cells (squares) in using the fill tool.

At the moment, I manually write out each row by highlighting and using the count tool at the bottom to tell me how many are in the black, but I have to do each block of colours one at a time; it's lengthy!

Can Excel return the information in text with the amount in a block, followed by the colour name, and then a comma e.g. a list? Colours will feature multiple times in each row, so using a count function isn't going to succeed.

I'd love some help with this as I have many patterns I would prefer to see written down! Thanks in advance.

This probably could be done with VBA code. But it would be much easier if you use the hint from a yellow bannet near the top of the page. Remember to show not only sample input, but also manually assessed output in the file.
    Best Regards,

Use numbers in the cells combined with conditional formatting.
Then you could use COUNTIF function to know how many of each.

I think this is what you're after.

Andrew-Mark had the same idea as me, but he had it first
Althought it won't help with your existing patterns, setting up conditional formats would help you in the future.
You could set up a series of conditions for the colours so that when you type say R in a cell the cell and text become red, type G and the cell and text are green, etc, etc.
Then count number of R's or G's, etc in the column or entire grid.

But, to help you with your existing patterns, follow Kaper's instructions.

    Thank you everyone!

With the suggestion of the conditional formatting, I think an issue may arise using the COUNT function.

I want to convert a conditionally formatted coloured image into a written pattern.

A lot of rows repeat colours, but are broken by a section of an alternative colour e.g.

    Row 1: 7 red, 4 blue, 8 white, 9 red, 19 blue.

I want Excel to return the pattern in the above format, but fear it will actually return:
18 red, 23 blue, 8 white; thus losing the pattern completely.

Am I right? Is there any way to counteract this?
