    Standard deviation with multiple criteria

    Hi everyone,
Hope you can help me. I have attached a small example illustrating my problem. I am trying to calculate the standard deviation from the data in the value column. However, I want to discriminate between the samples (three different sample no. and also I want to deine which date I want to include. For an example I would like to calculate the standard deviation for samples with sample number: 1461101 between 5 - 8 august. I have managed to calculate the standard deviation discriminating between sample number using an array formula, but I havent managed to "include" date range in my formula. Hope you can help.
    sincerely
    Thomas

Re: Standard deviation with multiple criteria

How about using the DSTDEVP formula?

See attached for detail on how Criteria is defined.

With the 3 criterias is in F1,F2,F3:

**Array formulas are not entered in the same way as 'standard' formulas. Instead of pressing just ENTER, you first hold down CTRL and SHIFT, and only then press ENTER. If you've done it correctly, you'll notice Excel puts curly brackets {} around the formula (though do not attempt to manually insert these yourself).
