"Match Destination Formatting" not always available

    Hi,

I have a frequent issue at work which is driving me mad. Every day I have to copy a bunch of stats from one sheet to another templated sheet.

For months now, I have been able to select, copy and then use the "Match Destination Formatting" option. This makes sure the sums in the template take place in the totals columns. Without using this, for some reason. it won't calculate the averages of the columns formatted as times.

Now and then, and quite a lot recently, when I go to paste, instead of the the three options appearing that include MDF and Paste and Paste Link, I get the one that has several more options but not MDF!
I've (hopefully) attached screenshots to show what I mean)

Sometimes just opening and closing one the sheets will bring the option back but it's costing me a lot of time with it not appearing consistently.

Any idea why this would appear in some instances but not all?

    Many thanks

    Hi,
do you have an example to share (in excel file) ?

Fast answers need clear examples. Post a small Excel sheet (not a picture) showing realistic & representative sample data WITHOUT confidential information (10-20 rows, not thousands...) and some manually calculated results. Just before posting, scroll down to GO ADVANCED, click, and then scroll down to MANAGE ATTACHMENTS and click again. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

If you choose Paste Special | Values | OK then press the Esc key, you will find that the formatting of the destination cells will not be affected.

    Hope this helps.
