Formula to Return Header Name Based on Date Range

    Hello,
I am working on a basic schedule that incorporates numerous jobs – each job has its own row and each job has 6 tasks associated (start dates). The schedule also has a countdown in days for when the next task is supposed to start. The tasks are chronological (i.e. task 1 always starts before task 2) but the start dates of Task 1 themselves are random.

    See spreadsheet for example.

I am trying to summarize each job by the next task date. I have used a MIN function to return the date, but trying to return the Task Name from the header is a bit trickier.
This is only a partial list. The list will end up being 50+.

    Any suggestions? Thank you advance.

    Untested, but something like
    Formula: copy to clipboard

Thanks for the response. The formula provided actually returns the "Days Rem" in the header, but with a small modification, it works!

So the formula (base on the model originally provided) now looks like: =INDEX($H$6:$S$6, MATCH(MIN($C7, $H7:$S7, 0))

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction! It is truly appreciated!

Ah, that's what you get when you work it out from basic principles on an iPad and, consequently, can't test it. Missed the fact that there are some relatively small values in the mix compared to dates. And also overlooked the point that you'd already calculated your minimum date value

    Anyway, MIN not required. Simply:
    Formula: copy to clipboard
