Copying tables and pasting to reuse table would like formula to change with cells

Hi, there's a chance I am going about this the complete wrong way, but I'm trying. I have tables that are used for estimating, and basically you have to copy and paste the table if there is a piece of equipment with variance of the original table and make another table to account for the other item. When you do this there is a column that does the calculation of the number of units and number of parts. example. Column D is the controller and column E is the number of pieces that go to that controller. so if you have 2 controllers with 3 switches it would be D1=1 E2=3 then they are multiplied and put in D2 for total number of switches. D2 formula is D$2*E2 there are 5 rows in D with the same formula only E changes by one each row (D3 would be D$2*E3). My issue is when I copy this table for a new controller and paste it the D$2 stays. So if pasted in D10 my formula then still will reference D$2 and and you have to change the 2 to 10 and drag it down for the other rows corresponding. May not seem like a big deal but gets rather frustrating doing it time and time again. So I guess the question is would there be a better formula so that when the tabled is copy and pasted that will not have to be done.

    Thanks

Can you upload a copy of your spreadsheet and what you paste? Easier to see it happening.
