    Returning results from multiple values

Hi, everyday I do a report and I'm sure there's an easier way to do this... for example, I have a list of maybe 50 different titles which should be classified into like 15 different categories. There will be around 3 different ones of them.
For example, the report will pull a list of "Promo Silver 3 CCM" "Silver 6" "Gold Gym Only 12" "Summer Promo Platinum 12" etc., etc. These should be put into a category of "Silver" or "Gold Gym" or "Platinum" into another column. Also, in a different column, anything that has "CCM" needs to give result of "CCM" and those without "CCM" should give result of "Prepaid"

I can find several way to use VLOOKUP to return multiple values from single source, but nothing on looking up multiple values to return multiple results.

This formula will be used each day on a new sheet on daily basis. On weekly basis, same will be repeated, but with up to 250 entries, and on monthly basis this goes up to over 1,000 entries or more.

    Please help. Thank you.

    Hi there.

A picture is worth 1,000 words. An Excel sheet is worth 1,000 pictures.

Please read the yellow banner about sample worksheets, at the top of the screen. Act on its guidelines and post a SMALL sample sheet.

    Hi, I hope attachment worked

This is one list - payment plan is what I receive, CATEGORY and TERM are what I need returned automatically

As mentioned, there are 3 different lists, but basically the same idea.

    Thank you.

    Try for category:

    Term

    The logic is:
If name have either "Platinum" or "Gold" or "Silver", then it belongs to that catergory, else, "Bronze"
    combine with:
If name have "MA" then "MA", "Gymx" then "Gymnastics", "Gym " then "Gym", else, nothing.

That I discover so far, from few pieces of sample. Not sure it is representative FULLY or not.

    thanks for the quick response!

The CCM vs Prepaid formula works great. But the 1st one comes back as "you've entered too many arguments"

I've created 1 list - since this is the shortest list - on attached (sorry, the initial list sent out had mistakes... Gym is not Bronze Gym, it should be Silver)

Re: Returning results from multiple values

As E1:F1 indicate that a cell displaying only the word "Gym" should be categorized as "Silver Gym", it seems to me that bebo's formula only needs to be modified to change "Bronze" to "Silver" as in:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

I don't get an error when applying the formula to the file in post #5.
Perhaps if you could upload a file with the formula applied we may be able to trouble shoot the problem.
