sum formula to match text in row header and column and sum matching criterion?

Hello,
I have been trying to sum monetary data by matching text in a heading as well as a specific term in column M and based on the matches obtain the summed monetary amounts in the particular assigned rows and column(s). I've tried these two formulas which I found online but they don't seem to work and give me the dreaded #VALUE. I've tried these formulas:

You are trying to make it too complicated, as the last items in your SUMIFS formula are not needed. Use this in H23:

=SUMIFS($D$6:$D$22,$M$6:$M$22,G23)+SUMIFS($H$6:$H$22,$M$6:$M$22,G23)+SUMIFS($I$6:$I$22,$M$6:$M$22,G23)

then copy down as required.
