    Writing a formula in Exce

    Below is a formula and it does not refer to any particular volume, The letters, l, R & r you can assign whatever numbers you choose. but just want to know how to write this to Excel. I did not have Geometry or Trig in school and have a TI-84 Plus calculator and don't know how to use it. Doing my best to learn Excel

    V = πh (R2 – r2) (Those 2's stand for Square)

    Thanks

    Jerry

    Re: Writing a formula in Exce

    Put the value of n in cell A1, h in A2, R in A3 and r in A4
    The formula will be
    =A1*A2*(A3^2 -A4^2)

    If any of those values (n,h,R or r) are constants, you can just input them into the formula rather than in a cell.

    ChemistB that l value has a PI before it, so is that A1* (3.14 * A2). This is one that confuses me as to how you use the PI in a formula.

    Thanks

    PI = 22/7

    So 22/7*A1*(3.14 * A2)
