Get values from different sheets where different bits of data values match

Hi Community,

I have a (for my brain) a tough issue I can't figure out how to tie it together.

I need, on 'serials' tab, to get the line number from 'items' tab where the item code on 'items' is equal to Column B on Sheet1.

To Display on 'serials' in column E
Value of 'items' column B
where 'items' column C = 'Sheet1' column D get value in column B
Value of column B = 'items' column C get value of column B
add this to 'serials' column E

I have added in columns K:P what should be output for reference.

I can elaborate if I haven't explained the issue clearly enough...

There are a whole lot of other calculations here, but this is the last one I can't figure out.

An easy way to accomplish this would be to put either a number sequence in column E of items, or put =row() and copy it down, then do a vlookup on the item code to find the value in E.

Thanks for the suggestion. What my colleagues and I figured out how to get this was to use an additional sheet, pull in the item code and serial from sheet 1, then vlookup the item code for the line number then, index match the serial for the corresponding line number. Seemes a little too many steps to get that info, but it does what I need it to!
