Countif with specific text criteria

How many cells are there in B column where sentence ended with text "CP". I put formula RIGHT(text,[num_chars]) in C column then Countif with criteria "CP" and get the problem solved.

But I'm seeking the solution in a cell which will bring result from Column B.

Any formula?

Or with countif
=COUNTIF(B2:B197,"*CP")

Can go wrong if "cp" is elsewhere in the text.

In what way? It only counts the cell if it ends with CP
