Controlling a Workbook Reference in a Formula

Dear Forum,

I want to look up and present the same row of information contained in the same cell references but from different workbooks

I want this information to show in another single worksheet, in a table or rows

The workbook names start with a number and then a name i.e. 10000001 abc ,10000002 def

I was hoping to use an ordinary cell reference but to control the referencing in the table using Indirect and just the numeric part of the file name, but I failing, and I am not sure how to isolate the numeric part of the file name

It would help if you attached a sample Excel workbook - see the yellow banner at the top of the screen for details of how to do this.

However, if you are trying to use the INDIRECT function on an external file (or files), you should be aware that it can't be used on files that are closed, so you would need to arrange to have them open in the same instance of Excel.
