"Freeze" a cell with the RANDOM formula

    Hello,
There is a cell that contains a RANDOM function that rolls a number between 1 and 1000.
Requirement: After saving, closing and reopening the file, the random number will remain the same as the random number that appeared before the file was closed.
If it helps, in D2, you can change OFF to ON and then F2 gets the value of the random number.
The number in F2 should be "frozen" and not affected by further changes (only the value will be copied).

Alternatively, cell B6 contains the NOW function. Need to "freeze" cell F6 after changing B2 to ON.
One last thing: Macro / VBA cannot be used ...

    Thanks to all the assistants!

Hi there. I stand to be corrected, but as far as I can think, your 'One last thing: Macro / VBA cannot be used ...' means that what you ask is impossible, sorry.

    Hi maclearyj,
    Thanks for your replay.
After a lot of thinking and testing, I guess I'll set this cell's calculation options to manual.
My client will have to click “calculate sheet” once he opens the file.
