Excel 4 macro Column.Width How to

According to Microsoft, Excel 4 macros are still supported but I am having trouble with Column.Width . Example is =COLUMN.WIDTH(5,,FALSE,,) don't change column width and always returns false. This is in a Macro Sheet. I tried Excel 365 and also Excel 2007 Student Versions.

( To use these functions you need to use defined names)

Defined Name returns #Name? error. Also, please correct me if wrong, defined name apply to non-macro sheets.
