How to make text in cells similar

Hi all,

I have 2 long Excel datasheets in which I want to use 1 column as a base for a Vloopup. However, the text in that column (customer names) is a bit different in both datasheets. E.g. datasheet 1 will have as cell text = "Pepsico" , while datasheet 2 will have as cell text "pepsico NV". Is there any formula to make both names similar? With the purpose to afterwards use a Vlookup on the similar name. This would make life easier, as it's a list with over 500 records.

Thanks for the suggestions! This already solves part of the case, but only for 1/3 of the records. Would there exist any other formula that recognizes similar text in cells and make them identic? Then I could solve this in 2 steps: first make cells identic and then use vlookup.

You've quoted one example. And got a response that addresses that one example. How would anyone know what the other 2/3 of records look like? We can only answer the question you ask, not the stuff that you're thinking about. That's not the way it works.
