    Calculating Lag Dates between dates.

    good evening,

    I was hoping someone would be able to help as I am at whits end. In the attached sheet, I am trying to calculate lag dates based on a claim file date. I know the simple formula, my issue is I need to look at the greater of the 2 dates and start the count based on the future date if there is one.

    For example- claim filed 4/1/2021 but requested first day out is not until 4/10/2021, I would need the lag date to count from 4/10/2021 to current day.

    Any help or tips are appreciated.

    Hi Jimmy and welcome to the forum,

    Don't you just want to subtract the two dates? See the attached. If that isn't it and you need other formulas, please give a sample (or two) and explain what your reasoning is.

    Yeah, it's a little unclear what you're wanting. You should show your expected answers on the sheet as that will help - and show scenarios that capture all your requirements. However, maybe this is also something that might help:

    =TODAY()-MAX(A2,B2)

    Re: Calculating Lag Dates between dates.

    Hi everyone, sorry for not being more clear. I am working on a federal compliance report for work. I'm trying to capture the amount of time a claim has been sitting without a decision. The formula =TODAY()-MAX(A2,B2), worked perfect, so thank you for that. My only issue is the formatting of the dates, they are coming over as xxxx-xx-xx format. And I think this is throwing everything off.

    In rows 1-5 the formula works perfect, in rows 11-17 where the date format is xxxx-xx-xx, the results are not working for me. I have tried doing a mass edit to change the date format to xx-xx-xxxx but this is still not working for me.
