Linking two workbooks (Roster and Annual Leave) - formula/VBA- HELP REQUIRED

    Hi All,

Firstly, I will be extremely grateful if anyone can help me here!

I am updating the rostering system within our company and must find a way to link Annual Leave on the Roster to an annual leave tracker we have (both excel workbooks). If you take a look at the roster (attached snippet of an example week), we have 5 people on shift and one spare (number 6), the number 6 takes the shift of one of the other 5 if for example one of the other 5 request annual leave. In that scenario the existing shift will simply have a strikethrough put through it and 'AL' put below it (as shown in the example). I need a way whereby if there is an 'AL' below the shift, this AL is tracked and updates another workbook (which tracks each employees annual leave).

I understand the whole system needs a real update (completely manual) but I am working on a way to improve the whole thing! Any suggestions are highly appreciated!! (RD is rest day)

    Thank you,

    H
