    scoring formula

    me and my friends like to play a card game called whist (or Oh hell). I'm trying to use excel to make the scoring easier but having trouble figuring out the maths. This is the scoring system we use:-

    0 = 10
    1 = 12
    2 = 14
    3 = 16
    4 = 28
    5 = 40
    6 = 52
    7 = 64
    8 = 76

    if a player wins what they bid they get the points as above. if not then its 2 points each trick won.

    I'm hoping someone on here can help me please

    Re: scoring formula

    I think we need a little more detail.

    Please read the yellow banner at the top of this page on how to attach a file. In particular ensure you add manually calculated results

    Re: scoring formula

    Let me verify.
    If a player bids 0 and they get 0, they get 10 points.
    If a player bids 1 and get 1 they get 12 points.
    Etc.

    However if regardless of what they bid if they took 1 trick, they would get 2 points.
    If they took 2 tricks it would be 4 points... Etc?

    Assuming this to be the case. Here is an example Score Sheet.

    There seems to be no mathematical rhyme or reason to the scoring so you need a table for the score values.

    Then a simple if / than formula.

    IF(B2= "" , "" , IF(B2=C2 , VLOOKUP(C2 , $J$1:$K$9 , 2 ,FALSE), C2*2 ))

    Download the example to see what I mean.

    Re: scoring formula

    This should do it.
    Fixed the formula to fit the new formula.
    Adjusted for continued summing from previous score.

    Re: scoring formula

    This ..

    =INT(COUNTIF(C4:C13,"w")/3)

    so if you win 6 you get 2 points ?

    Always provide manual results so we can check our results against expected.
