Probably a simple solution. I have values from 1 to 8 in column A and names adjacent to them in column B. I am trying to come up with a formula to place the names only in order from largest to smallest column A values into column C. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your profile says you have Excel 2016. Sometimes people forget to update. Do you happen to have Excel 2019 or Excel for Office 365?
If not then
=INDEX($B$1:$B$8,MATCH(LARGE($A$1:$A$8,ROW()),$A$1:$A$8,FALSE),1)

With 365 then
=SORT(A1:B4,A1,-1)
Obviously change the A1:B4 as necessary.
Otherwise upload your workbook
