Im not a native english speaker but i will do my best to explain my problem first id like you to know my excel version. Ok now let me explain my problem, as you can see on the image i have made a dropdown using data validation List and if its empty it should turn red i merged 4 cells, if its just a simple merged cell no validation it works perfectly but when its a dropdown on 1st attempt not all the cell changes its background only the half of it but when i try it again or on 2nd attempt or more it serve its purpose i mean its working well only problem is on 1st attempt, is it a bug? or there is a solution?

    thank you all

Please update your forum profile, which tells us you are using Excel 2010.

There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook.

I replicated your situation merging E:H and then adding a DV in these merged cells. All cells initially RED as they are blank

When I selected a DV value the CF cleared in that cell.

As requested above, please post a workbook.
