Conditional formatting (special, highlight if cell matches value after : symbol)

    Hello all,

In my sheet attached, I want cells V16 to AH 16 to be highlighted in Pink if it matches the text after Z20 i.e P8

I want cells V16 to AH 16 to be highlighted in Green if it matches the text after Z20 i.e P6

I know this is conditional formatting and a custom rule is needed but unsure how to write this to say match the text after : symbol.

    pPlease can someone help?

    thank you

So which is it : Pink or Green ? if Z20 is P7 ?????

    As for CF: test =RIGHT(Z20,2)=Pn

    Hi John,
I don't think the formula worked? none of the colours changed.

Basically the colours are representing a stage.

If my team is 'Making' and we are in P8, P8 should be highlighted in Pink.... Pink is the colour for making
If my team is Working and we are in P6, P6 should be highlighted in Green. Green is the colour for working.

Whatever P, P1, P2, P3 etc the colours need to be Making (pink) and Working team (gREEN)

    thank you

I can see where you highlite P6 and P8, what I cannot see if how you ID based on this comment or yours...
If my team is 'Making' and we are in P8, P8 should be highlighted in Pink.... Pink is the colour for making
If my team is Working and we are in P6, P6 should be highlighted in Green. Green is the colour for working.
    .

Is it Making" because there is a 2 below P8
is it "working" if there is a 0 below P6?

what other values could those 2 cells have?

Would a CF test to check the value below P6 and P8 work?

Remember, you know exactly what you are doing, we only have tour explanation to go on

I can see you tried to seek Today's date in H:N to get corresponding text in column B and F
And this "Pn" with be used both in Z20/Z22 and row 16 conditional formatting:
In general, Making in Z20 could be shorter:

    Then Z20

And conditional formatting formula of V16:

    For pink:

    For green:

    Both applied to V16:AH16

    Hi FDibbins

The vlaues below P1 P2 etc are not important

It's literally me trying to have p1 p2 be highlighted to indicate which P (period) we are in.. P1 P2 etc for working and making..
