Re: Difficult Formula with sample file

Your sample file has a list of several customers (I am assuming that A, B, C, etc., are supposed to be customer names).

Your question says, "Return first date Customer had a quantity greater than 0". There is only one space for a formula. Which customer is this formula supposed to be for?

Your question says, "# of customers that had first ever quantity by date" There is only one space for a formula. Which date?

Similar for all your other questions.

    Administrative Note:

    Welcome to the forum.

We would very much like to help you with your query, however the thread title does not really convey what your request is about. Tell us what you are trying to do, not how you think it should be done.

Please take a moment to amend your thread title. Make sure that the title properly explains your request. Your title should be explicit and not be generic (this includes function names used without an indication of what you are trying to achieve).

Please see Forum Rule #1 about proper thread titles and adjust accordingly. To edit the thread title, open the original post to edit and then click on Go Advanced (bottom right) to access the area where you can edit your title.

(Note: this change is not optional. Normally I would do this for you, however I am not clear what the main aim here is.)

Re: Difficult Formula with sample file

Notwithstanding the poor thread title, which needs addressing (see above), we expect you to deal with one issue per thread here. Looking at your workbook, I cannot see what you have tried: all I see is a list of requirements. If you want someone else to do all the work for you, you should consider the Commercial Services section, where you can pay a forum member to take it on and produce all the formulae you need.

If you wish to continue here in the free forum you need to:

    1. Be prepared to do some of the work yourself - tell us what you have tried and in what way it's not working for you.
    2. Limit the number of major issues per thread to ONE.

Yes it's suppose to be customer names.
It is suppose to be any customer. Once I know how to do one customer, I will have to apply it to every single customer and every single date, which will make my file very heavy for the 1000+ list, but I can't think out another solution. So, Customer A and first date will do.

Re: Difficult Formula with sample file

Thank you. I limited my question. The reason why you don't see the attempts of failed formulas in my post is because I was so stumped on this, but I have edited my sample file & my title to show attempted formula and have purchased points from the commercial services. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, as I had no idea that this service was available. I will see how I can use the points I purchased to help me answer the series of other questions I had.

Re: COUNTIFS with INDEX MATCH ?

Here are formulas for the first three things you needed, based on your first file.

Your descriptions are not clear enough for me to give you formulas for the rest. It would help if you would show, for each item, an example of the result you want, and explain how you got that result.

You are asking several questions, though they are all closely related and you are just asking for a handful of formulas rather than a total solution from scratch, so I answered more than one.

That helped solve almost every one of my questions. Thank you. This one I had an issue with. I created exactly the sample with what the output is suppose to be as well.

Re: COUNTIFS with INDEX MATCH ?

Sorry, I have no idea what you are trying to show in this file.

    COUNTIFS(Data!$C$2:$C$14,Solve!B3,Data!$A$2:$A$14,Solve!A3,">0")

is invalid syntax; there must be an even number of arguments and you have 5. Also there is no sheet called Solve in this file. I don't know what you are trying to do with that formula.

"<< Answer should be 3" What is the question you are trying to answer? Why should the answer be 3?
