Feeling Dumb: Need help making SumIfs with Offset and Index work with my specific sheets

    Hello!

I've read a ton of threads on how to make sumifs with offset and index work to sum only visible cells that meet certain criteria, but for some reason I just can't make it work on my own workbook. I've uploaded a (largely redacted) version here in hopes that someone can help me.

I'm running into issues because the "Scholarships" tab is a filtered list, and I only want to include SOME of the visible items (if they meet specific criteria).

My ultimate goal is to be able to fill in cell E17 on the "Overview" tab, and have it total the balance of scholarships on the scholarship tab that have "Endowment Spend Rate" in the Type column.

(bonus if you can show me how to add multiple criteria or how to sum everything except those with a certain type-- I'll need to do that later and haven't even started figuring that out yet!)

Thank you so much for anyone who can help!!

Hello kmpublishing2. Welcome to the forum.

Your profile informs us your version of Excel is 2003. Your file format says otherwise. Please update your profile. It tells everyone what tools you have available for solution.

    Thanks.

My apologies-- I hadn't updated that since I created my account forever ago and forgot it even existed. I am using Excel 2016.

Not clear to me what is to be suumde where but for example

    =sumifs(Scholarships!G:g,Scholarships!D:D,"Endowment Spend Rate")

will sum column G for "Endowment Spend Rate")

    =sumifs(Scholarships!G:g,Scholarships!D:D,"Endowment Spend Rate",Scholarships!E:E,"Graduate")

    Further criteria of "Graduate" program
If that takes care of your original question, please select Thread Tools from the menu link above and mark this thread as SOLVED.
