Row cell reference unchanged when dragging formulas across to the next column?

    Hi there,

I'm aware that the cell reference for rows will automatically change to the next row when dragged down, but is there away to use a formula to still count down an amount of cells when dragging the formula across?

    Context:
Every month I pull a report where the layout is (for e.g.)2 columns wide, 3 rows deep and then paste the current months data below the running list from the last 12 months.
    e.g. JAN - row 1 = Asset, $$, row 2 = liability, $$, row 3 = Equity, $$ FEB - row 4 = Asset, $$, row 5 = liability, $$, row 6 = Equity, $$ MAR - row 7 = Asset, $$, row 8 = liability, $$, row 9 = Equity, $$
The next sheet is 12 columns which correspond to the months of the year. I want to create a formula where I can reference the amount for Jan's asset, and then when I pull the formula over to the next column, it will skip 3 rows to show Feb's asset amount.

    Appreciate any help

Hello ParanoidPear. Welcome to the forum.

A workbook upload is almost always much more informative than a picture. It also saves volunteers having to retype data.

Why are you leaving a blank row in your results? Better without one. However, use:

    =IF($H3="","",SUMIFS($D:$D,$B:$B,I$1,$C:$C,$H3))
