    Vlookup & conditional formatting

    Hi all,

I am trying to create a conditional format to alert me when another cell for a specific person is not blank.

I want to lookup a participants name in Cell B of the 'Participant tracking' tab, if that participant has information in cell O, I want to format cell P in another tab named 'Withdrawal To-do's' for that participant (name listed in cell in B of withdrawal to-do's tab).

    This is what I tried:
    =VLOOKUP($B$2,'Participant Approval'!$D:$O,1,FALSE)=IFNOT(ISBLANK+'Participant Approval'!$O:$O)

Basically what I want to do in plain english is to alert myself when withdrawing a participant that they are also in another program which is noted in the first tab.

    Re: Vlookup & conditional formatting

    Welcome to the forum.

There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook.

A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. It also has expected results mocked up, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.

    Administrative Note:

Members will tailor the solutions they offer to the version of Office (Excel) that you have. Please check that your forum profile is up-to-date in this respect (2108 is merely a release number). If you aren't sure, in Excel go to File | Account and report what it says below the MS logo at the top of that page. If your version is for Mac, please also state this. Thanks.

Thanks. Please update your profile, as requested.

There is no data in the sheet where you say you want the CF to appear. You need to provide us with some, please.

I added the participants name in the Withdrawal to dos tab - Cell P in this tab should go red because there is a program selected in the Participant Approval tab for "John Test"

    Re: Vlookup & conditional formatting

Try replacing the existing conditional formatting rule in column P on the Withdrawal To-do's sheet with:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

    Thanks for the alternative, JeteMc.

I put that in as a formula in the cell and it did alert! Thank you!
