Hey all! I am trying to split up a cell that contains a bunch of data from a game that I play with friends. The format is usually pretty consistent, but it's not always guaranteed to have the same lengths of characters for the values in the main cell. Unfortunately, the data is continuously updating and I won't be able to use the delimited option in excel, so I am looking for help on creating a function that'd help me organize this data more effectively.
I have the following columns:
Tournament |
Banned |
Turns |
Time |
P1 Name |
P1 F1 |
P1 F2 |
P1 VP |
P2 Name |
P2 F1 |
P2 F2 |
P2 VP |
P3 Name |
P3 F1 |
P3 F2 |
P3 VP |
P4 Name |
P4 F1 |
P4 F2 |
P4 VP |
Notes |
String |
In the String column, I am pulling in data from another source that unfortunately puts it in a single string. This will look like this:
I am trying to create a function that I can replicate across the different cells that pulls in the information from the STRING column, populating like this:
Tournament |
Banned |
Turns |
Time |
P1 Name |
P1 F1 |
P1 F2 |
P1 VP |
P2 Name |
P2 F1 |
P2 F2 |
P2 VP |
P3 Name |
P3 F1 |
P3 F2 |
P3 VP |
P4 Name |
P4 F1 |
P4 F2 |
P4 VP |
Notes |
String |
Game Geeks |
Geeks, Zombies, Aliens |
24 |
74 minutes |
Dork Orc |
Sinister Six |
Vampires (T) |
15 |
Paroxysm |
Anansi Tales |
Mad Scientists |
16 |
Hansel |
All Stars |
Ancient Egyptians |
13 |

<the notes from the notes section in the STRING column> |
<the entire STRING column value> |
Has anyone done something like this, or know of a way to do this? Any guidance is much appreciated.
