How to apply conditional formatting to each column separately?

    Dear Excellers,
I have a list of numbers (hundreds) on each columns and I need to see duplicate values with conditional formatting.
The problem is that I don't know how to apply that function separately. Each column has to be independent from the others.
    Thank you!

    John

Hi John and welcome to the forum,

Select a single column by clicking on the Letter above the column. Then apply CF using the selected column. Click on the next column head and do it again.
If that isn't the answer, we need a sample of what you have to understand the problem better. See the yellow banner above to see how to attach a file.

    Dear MarvinP,

thank you for your fast reply. I know that. The problem is that I have thousands of this columns and I need to do that in human time (all the columns simultaneously).

    Thanks!

I'm using macOS Catalina. Have I to copy that code and past it on Terminal? Or I must paste it somewhere on Excel? Thank you JohnTopley.

I don't know anything about MAC-based products so I cannot advise on what is required.

Please update your profile to show the Excel version you are using.

Select all columns and use the following CF:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

Adapt ranges as required but make sure the absolute and relative references are correct !
You will of course have the same formatting everywhere
( depending on your regional settings you have to replace the comma with a semi colon)

Re: How to apply conditional formatting to each column separately?

    Dear Pepe Le Mokko,
I tried in different ways to use your very clear advice but I failed. I tried to insert as function, use the file you attached and copy my data but doesn't work.
I think it's strange that a so simple option is so difficult to obtain on excel. Thank You! Anyway finally I found this solution on techcommunity.microsoft.com (I can't link it):

How to conditionally format many columns independently
    Hi,
I am struggling to find a solution for a problem I encountered. I have a data sheet with many columns and each column represents data from an individual person. In each column, there are words which a person used as a response for a particular instruction."

I didn't understand the formula, I used the file attached and it worked. Right now understanding the formula is not a priority for me.

The formula (in italian version) is:
    Formula: copy to clipboard
