    Duplicate in a Range

    Hello,
I have a unique problem I am not able to find out the solution. I have an excel file with the Range of numbers listed in the columns like this

    1000-2000
    500-600
    100-120
    1000-3000
    6000-7000
    8500-9632

I need to highlight each row which is not unique. Meaning, the above sample data should highlight 1st row because they are covered in the 4th row. So basically the lower range should be highlighted

    Any help is appreciated.

    Proton.

Two questions. Is all you data in one column or two.? Difficult to determine. I don't know what you mean by Covered in the 4th Row. Perhaps you need to explain your criteria/rationale in more detail so that we fully understand.

    Re: Duplicate in a Range

    Hey Alan,
    Thanks for the response.

I also edited my post a little bit. I think I made an error in question.

    So

    1. All my Data is in ONE column only.
    2. so the the first row which is 1000-2000 is covered under 4th row range which is 1000-3000 so the first row should be highlighted

    Re: Duplicate in a Range

Ok so 1000-3000 range in the 4th row covers the 1000-2000 range which is mentioned in the 1st row. Does that make sense ?

1000-3000 will cover below sample ranges

    1000-1100
    1200-1300
    2200-2500

So if the any range is mentioned which is covering the lower range(All three in this example), excel should highlight the lower ranges.

    With Conditional formatting

    1. Select the cells you want to format.
    2. Create a conditional formatting rule, and select the Formula option.
    3. Enter this formula:

    4. Set formatting options and save the rule.

Note: change in the formula "A2" and "$A$2" for the cell where the data begins, change in the formula "A7" and "$A$7" for the last cell with data.
