I need to show the number of occurances of each unit in a given month

    Hello Forum!

I am in need of a formula. What I need to do is on the tabs of charts by unit and incident type, you will see that there is a total for all year and then there is the month headers. I tried to use the countifs formula but I get lost when searching for the unit number or the incident type by month. I think that I am close to figuring it out but I need a teacher to have the lesson that I need to learn.

In the tab of incident ype, there is a caluation for the main chart, but when I try to use the countif formula to specify the incident type per month, I get lost.

The same for the unit number.

The information contained within the workbook is public record.

I have attached a copy of the workbook.

    Thank you,

    Luther

    Re: countif formula help

No, Lex - this will NOT do.

Tell us what you are trying to do, NOT how you think it should be done. Don't mention function names - just tell us what you want to achieve.

Try again, please. This new title is not good enough.

Are you still using Excel 2007??? If not, you also need to update your forum profile.

    Re: countif formula help

    Hello Ali,

Sorry, this has done my head in. I am unsure of how to word it since things have changed when I was absent.

In the tab marked charts by unit, in the other columns, I want or need to show the number of occurances of each unit in that month. I am unsure of on how that formula or what formula to use. I normally would not bother anyone on it because I usually research it on the web, but this one has be bashing my head.

As for the version, I have been using librecalc on windows 10 in which Apple converts it to excel 2007+ on my Ipad mini gen 1. I can change it in the profile if it is there.

Again, sorry for the bother and thank you.

OK - your title should be: "I need to show the number of occurances of each unit in a given month".

    Change it NOW, please.

    Try

    In D2

    =COUNTIFS(INDIRECT("'"&D$1&"'!$F:$F"),"="&$A2)

    copy across and down
