How to Extract days in a given month from a given period?

I am trying to make a table that can tell me how many of the days in a given period is in any given month. In D1 it should be possible to switch between the different months.

Any suggestions?

put in C1/C2 the first day/last day of the required month.

D2:
=MIN(C2,$D$1)-MAX(B2,$C$1)+1
