If formula of letter from letters

Need formula on D1 drag down , Formula to Find letter S and leave black otherwise mark Y

LOOK at d4 i have plugged N since C column does not have letter S

Here is one way. D1 and drag down

=IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("S",C1)),"","N")

You can use this formula in D1:

=IF(COUNTIF(C1,"*s*"),"Y","")

then copy down as needed.

Please offer some more examples and be quite clear which other cells should be marked and with what.
I presume you meant to say 'Find letter S and leave BLANK'. But then imply if NOT letter S mark Y, yet you're using the letter N.

Can you see how confusing this is

C4 doesn't have any letters at all, S or otherwise. But what about say C15 which just has E, i.e. NOT S how should D15 be marked.
