Lightbulb Ranking Based on Multiple Criteria

    96C002CC-8958-4585-A2E3-97D31C27E588.png

    Hi,

I am in a strange situation about an EXCEL formula, have spent nearly 10 hours to find something for it, but could not achieve what I wanted to.

    May be you can help.

The below photo will explain you my concern.

Rank in Column E should be based on the combination of values in Column A, Column B, Columns C and the absolute value in Column D.

    E.g. Row 1 to 17, Column-D had a value of 7 (Row 7 - 13) which is the highest for the Project-1 (Column C)

    Similarly Row 18 - 32, Column-D had a value of 8 (Row 20 - 27)) which is the highest for the Project-2 (Column C)

The expected outcome is shown in column E (TOP Z).

    Any Guidance?

Re: Ranking Based on Multiple Criteria

    Welcome to the forum.

There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook.

A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. It also has expected results mocked up, worked examples where required, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.

    Administrative Note:

We would very much like to help you with your query, however the thread title does not really convey what your request is about. Tell us what you are trying to do, not how you think it should be done.

Please take a moment to amend your thread title. Make sure that the title properly explains your request. Your title should be explicit and not be generic (this includes function names used without an indication of what you are trying to achieve).

Please see Forum Rule #1 about proper thread titles and adjust accordingly. To edit the thread title, open the original post to edit and then click on Go Advanced (bottom right) to access the area where you can edit your title.

(Note: this change is not optional. As you are new here, I have done it for you this time.)

Why have you opened two user accounts?

I've put a ban on the pawiair2 account.

Are you in India or Germany? Which version of Excel are you using?

    Hello AliGW,

    I am from Germany.

    No issues about closing Pawiair2.

The attachment TEMP111.xlsx is now attached. Hopefully this will work.

Re: Ranking Based on Multiple Criteria

Please update your forum profile - your location currently says India, not Germany, and your Excel version says 2003, not MS365.

I will have a look at the workbook.

    Hello 6StringJazzer,

Point taken, Rules understood. Sorry to say that but I had no clue that Chandoo and Excelforums are connected in any way.

Thanks anyways for informing me about and I shall take care of it.

They are not connected. The rule is that if you post the same question anywhere else on the Internet that you give us a link to it. Otherwise you are going to have people duplicating effort and possibly working hard for you to solve a problem that was already solved.
